WORLD WE DARE TO IMAGINE

Surfing it is fun and relaxing, which I believe everyone should have access to. I personally am not the best surfer in the world, but I can catch a wave. It is a awesome way to start your day and gives you time to think about your day or life. My idea is to have a program were people from different communities come take lessons and just surf. These people would be people who wouldn’t normally be able to have access to surfing. They wouldn’t just learn how to surf, but be able to meet people from different communities than their own and gain a new hobby from it.

  1. This is cool as I don't currently know many orgs that do this. I guess the next step would be to find other experienced surfers or surf instructors that would be willing to take time to volunteer for your org and help teach the kids that way you don't have your hands too full. Then I think reaching out to local communities and schools to see who's interested would be a good next step.

  2. I really like this idea! I think a really important step in developing this program will be identifying what demographics would be interested in participating and who could benefit most. I believe it would also be cool to do some group bonding activities with the people who do end up participating to establish the comradery that many surfers enjoy.

  3. I recently had Jesse Billauer speak to my entrepreneurship class. He was a world champion surfer before breaking his neck while surfing at the age of 17. He still wanted to pursue surfing because he felt that a wave is one place where he feels independence. His Life Rolls On foundation is dedicated to helping disabled individuals surf. Love the idea of bringing surfing to everyone.

  4. I think this is a really interesting and unique approach. one of the best ways to get people to come together is to have a common interest, and surfing is a great way to go about that!!
