South Central Surfers


South Central Surfers provides less fortunate children to come out to the beach and enjoy the surf. This gives them the opportunity to get themselves out of their urban environment and their comfort area.

We will provide all the equipment necessary and teaching to provide a quality time. We do not want any of the kids or their families to feel burden by the price or any of the expenses. So that they do not have to worry about paying for it, but be in the moment and enjoy the surf. We will also work on getting pro-surfers to come out and teach a class or two. I am not the best surfer, but I can go out and catch a few waves. Whenever I go out onto the water I come out being happy and ready for the day ahead of me. 

This will be a place where the children not only feel safe, but are able seek advice or talk to someone about anything in their life. We will teach them how to surf and along the way learn valuable life skills. This will give them the opportunity to enjoy nature and get out of the urban landscape. The classes will be held in Santa Monica and ideally it would be completely free for the kids. This will give them the opportunity to meet other people and create friendships that will hopefully last a life time. Our goal wouldn’t be to have them become professional surfers, but to help them build confidence in themselves and learn new skills that they might not be able to learn in the class room or in an urban environment.

Our organization is unique in that it is a surfing class with teacher that can be mentors for the children for things outside of surfing. It will also stand out for its reputation in the community for being a place where kids can learn valuable life skills, feel safe, and most importantly have fun. 

South Central Surfers is an important organization for the community because it will provide their children with the opportunity to grow as an individual and an outlet to nature. At South Central Surfers we believe that it is crucial for any individual to have equal access all nature oriented activities, especially surfing. These children need this resource to build their confidence and to have a safe environment for growing as a person.

Chuck is a part of the one percent and describes his journey through his life and his struggle with dealing with the privileges that he received from birth. He did not agree with having enough money to not work for the rest of his life and he decided to donate a majority of his wealth. He wanted to live his life to his value and not to the fact that he is very privilege and wealthy. He utilizes his privilege and wealth to start a non-profit that would help the people help fight against inequality. A Day in a Life of a Sailing Coach One of my favorite hobbies and competitive sports is sailing. Most people have an image of a large sail boat with people drinking and wearing boat shoes, when they think sailing. Even though I like to casually sail occasionally. I especially love to race dinghies (small sailboats) competitively. I enjoy sailing so much that I coached at my yacht club for a year and a half. A sailing coach is exactly what it sounds like, a person who teaches sailing. Sailing is a very unique sport to get into and to learn because of the limited access to equipment and coaches a person might not have.
