FARMER Post 2
Throughout this book he tells a story of a city kid transforming himself into a farmer. He becomes to realize by the end of his book that the land is his to keep and it is his goal to maintain this land. Hopefully, passing it along to someone with the same dedication, but in better shape than it was in before. This sense of accomplishment, I believe was realized when one of his friends parents came to the farm to check it out. These people owned large amount of cows and grew crops. The realization happened when the man asked him his opinion about something to do with the calf. It is very clear that by the end of the book it seems like he knows what he is doing because in the beginning of the book he knew nothing at all about becoming a farmer. Even in his stories about what he did transformed and became more detailed toward the end of the book.
By the end of the book I noticed that he gave detailed accounts of what he did to, for example, kill and butcher a pig. Compared early on in the book were he did not give as elaborate stories. I really appreciated the detailed he put into the him telling the reader how to butcher a pig because I personally don't know how to. It is interesting how he has evolved from someone squeamish about killing an animal to killing the animal himself. I felt this could be because he appreciates the animals know and doesn't think of them a friends but as food. I personally enjoyed his story and how detailed it was. I thought this story was going to be a boring read, that didn't have a lot of exciting parts. Except, I was proven wrong by the roller coaster of a story this was and all of the challenges he faced and overcame.
