FARMER post 1

In the first part of this book, he spends his time talking about the process of him unintentionally becoming a farmer. Throughout this journey he had to face different obstacles which he was not properly prepared for. From the first attempts at bee keeping to dealing with a bloated cow, somehow, he could manage his way through them. I noticed that there is a common theme that reading books is the main way he learns to overcome these obstacles or rarely asking advice from people who might have more knowledge than him. This way of learning is one way to find the knowledge needed to grow a thriving profitable farm. Except at this point in the book he has not been that profitable in his venture and throughout the book he is slowly realizing that his hobby/dream is becoming more of a reality. I noticed that he mentioned that he loved to pass with reading while he was a child, which has influenced him to the point he is at in his life.
The actions that he has done through the time he has been experimenting on the land he has made some hypocritical actions. For instance, he values all life and that he does not want to see anything go to waste, as we have seen with the milk or with the infected cow. However, he has wasted the lives of bees by intentionally knowing that they would die by winter and he would be able to get more the next time. Even though he is collecting honey from these hives, the amount of honey that is collected does not justify the number of bees he was using. Although he was hypocritical at times, I believe that he has succeed at becoming a farmer so far in this book.
